Tuesday In Love is a Canadian cosmetics brand making Halal-certified, water-permeable UV gel nail polish for Muslim women who want polished nails without breaking wudhu. That is a specific problem with very few real solutions, which makes the product interesting well beyond the usual “is this a nice pink” question. The brand is certified by ISNA Canada, ships across Canada and the US, and directs proceeds from each sale to charity.
Tuesday In Love Halal UV Gel Polish
A well-made gel polish that happens to solve a specific and genuinely underserved problem. Wear time is competitive with mainstream gels, the shade range is better than it needs to be, and the ISNA Canada certification means the core claim is verified by someone other than the brand.
How it scored
What we liked
- Held 14 days with only minor tip wear, comparable to mainstream gel
- Halal certification from ISNA Canada, so the claim is third-party verified
- The Permeability Complex extends the concept to regular polish you already own
- Shade range goes well beyond token neutrals
What we didn’t
- Requires a UV lamp, so first-time buyers face a higher starting cost
- Darker shades needed a third coat for full opacity in our test
- Per-bottle price sits above mass-market gel polish
The claim, and why it matters
Standard nail polish forms a waterproof barrier, which is why it prevents a valid wudhu. Tuesday In Love formulates its gel polish to be water-permeable, so water can reach the nail through the film. This is the entire reason the product exists and the reason it commands a price above mass-market gel. The certification from ISNA Canada matters here: it means the claim has been assessed by a recognised third party rather than asserted in a product description.
Wear test
We wore three shades (Fantasy, Sipping Lemonade and Boss Girl) over three weeks, through washing up, a gym routine and normal typing. At day 14 the manicure had only minor tip wear and no lifting at the cuticle, which puts it in the same bracket as mainstream salon gel rather than behind it. That result surprised us; permeability and durability usually trade against each other.
Application and colour
Application is standard gel: thin coats, cure under a UV lamp between each. Lighter shades reached full opacity in two coats. The darker shades in our test needed a third, which is worth knowing before you start. Colour payoff is strong and the finish cures glossy without a separate top coat, although the brand sells one. If you do not already own a UV lamp, factor it into the first order; it is the real cost of entry, not the polish.
The Permeability Complex
The more interesting product for existing polish collections is the TIL Permeability Complex, which is designed to make regular nail polish water-permeable. If you already own a drawer of colours you like, this is a far cheaper route to the same outcome than replacing everything. We tested it over two non-permeable polishes and it behaved as described.
